Ana Montana, the partner of NBA player LaMelo Ball, was arrested Monday in North Carolina on felony drug charges, according to booking records obtained by TMZ and cited by the New York Post.
Montana, whose real name is Analicia Chaves, faces two felony counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery, along with two misdemeanor counts of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. The charges date back to February 21. She was being held on a $20,000 bond in connection with the felony charges.
According to the arrest warrant, police allege that Chaves obtained alprazolam, the generic form of Xanax, from Walgreens using prescriptions written with a doctor’s allegedly stolen DEA registration and medical provider identification number.
Her attorney told TMZ that the allegations involve a doctor who allegedly used fraudulent credentials to prescribe alprazolam to Chaves, and that she obtained the medication from a pharmacy using that prescription. The attorney also said the possession charges appear to relate to the same medication.
The warrant was issued on September 22, six days before her arrest. Chaves is also the founder of I Am Fertility, a nonprofit focused on supporting women navigating fertility-related issues.
Chaves and Ball have been linked since 2021 and welcomed their first child, a son named LaOne, in January. Ball is entering his first season with the Minnesota Timberwolves after being traded by the Charlotte Hornets in June.
