“We are pleased to start this edition with a film that combines humor, action, and social criticism, highlighting the creativity and talent of Dominican cinema,” said Armando Guareño, director of the festival. “The Rejected: Submarine Operation” —one of the highest-grossing productions of the year in the Dominican Republic— tells the adventures of a group of antiheroes who face a secret mission with global consequences. Its irreverent tone mixes comedy, action, and science fiction with a critical look at social reality. The film features an all-star cast led by Frank Perozo, Hony Estrella, Manolo Ozuna, Fausto Mata, Salvador Pérez, Gabi Desangles, Vicente Santos and Pepe Sierra, along with special appearances by Santiago Matías (Alofoke), Pedro Casals, Ariel Santana, Harakakiko, El Nephew and Manolay. For the international premiere, producer José Ramón Alamá and actor Fausto Mata will be present, who will share with the New York audience during the opening gala. Tickets are available through Eventbrite on the festival’s official link, while the complete schedule and more information can be found at www.dominicanfilmfestivalny.com and on social media @dffnycofficial. The Dominican Film Festival in New York will be held from October 23 to 28, 2025, reaffirming its commitment to the promotion of Dominican and Latin American cinema, as well as to the strengthening of cultural ties between the Dominican Republic and the United States.
