Santiago de los Caballeros, May 2026 — Santiago became the great epicenter of beauty, culture, and Dominican pride, by receiving the official presentation of the first group of candidates for the Miss Dominican Republic 2026 national beauty contest, within the framework of the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the organization. The honorable mayor of Santiago, José Ulises Rodríguez, officially welcomed the young women who proudly represent the different municipalities and provinces of the country, thus giving the starting signal to a historic edition of the most important beauty contest in the nation.

Among the delegations presented were the representatives of Santiago, Santo Domingo de Guzmán, Peravia, Santiago Rodríguez, Santiago de los Caballeros, San José de Ocoa, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, Pedernales, San Francisco de Macorís, Higüey, Bahoruco, La Romana, Duarte and Monseñor Nouel, among other national delegations. The majestic Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration was dressed in elegance, glamour, and distinction. Illuminated in pink tones and adorned with seasonal flowers, the emblematic stage created a magical and unforgettable atmosphere, worthy of a historic night for Dominican beauty. The evening had a massive attendance and the participation of prominent designers from the Dominican Republic, who showcased their talent by dressing the candidates with spectacular creations inspired by the Met Gala style. An imposing red carpet captured all eyes while the aspirants paraded among flashes, applause and the warmth of the Santiago public. Among the special guests was the presence of Lcdo. Benny Metz, president of the National Disability Council (CONADIS), whose attendance reinforces the contest’s commitment to the cause of inclusion and support for people with disabilities, in tune with the creation of The House of Autism. The night officially marked the beginning of the competitions for typical costume, swimsuit, evening gown and the grand final night, within the commemorative calendar of the 70 years of Miss Dominican Republic. This year, the contest also raises a powerful social banner in support of the creation of La Casa del Autismo (The House of Autism), a project promoted by the president of the organization, Mrs. Magali Febles, with the purpose of providing early diagnosis, therapies, guidance and comprehensive support to children within the autism spectrum and their families.It was a night filled with emotion, identity, culture, and purpose, in which Santiago celebrated Dominican beauty with grace and deep patriotic feeling. Miss Dominican Republic 2026 will be broadcast on Color Visión, Channel 9, next July 30th starting at 8:00 PM.“I want to leave a legacy for low-income families who cannot access early diagnoses, treatments, and therapies due to economic limitations. Children within the spectrum deserve a dignified life, opportunities, and a more conscious and supportive society. Our families also deserve support amidst so many sacrifices,” said Febles, president of Miss Dominican Republic.
