New York. – The Dominican Consul in the city of New York, Jesús Vásquez Martínez (Chu) expressed his desire for the international community to manifest itself in deeds and not in words, regarding the political, economic, and social crisis affecting the Dominican Republic.

He said that international organizations must understand that the situation of violence that Haiti is experiencing is a humanitarian issue.

He warned that the Dominican Republic cannot carry Haiti, pointing out that “as a country we have done more than we could.”

In that sense, when questioned about the raids against undocumented immigrants, the diplomat emphasized that everyone must respect the rules of where they live.

He also highlighted that Dominicans who hold any political office, or lead any movement are a source of pride for the diaspora.

Jesús Vasquez Martínez spoke in these terms after leading the delegation that received President Luis Abinader upon his arrival in New York.
