Washington.- Errol Musk, the father of tech magnate Elon Musk, was accused of sexually abusing at least five children in his family, although three police investigations did not lead to a formal conviction against the South African patriarch, revealed this Tuesday the newspaper The New York Times.

The accusations would include allegations of abuse in South Africa and California against five children and stepchildren of Errol Musk, 79, according to police and court records, personal correspondence, and interviews with family members and social workers, cited by the NYT.

The first case of inappropriate behavior dates back to 1993, when Errol’s four-year-old stepdaughter said that he had touched her. A decade later, he would have been caught smelling her underwear. He has also been accused of abusing two of his daughters and a stepson.

In 2023, family members and a social worker intervened after his then five-year-old son said he had been touched by his father. About three independent police investigations were opened against Errol Musk, who has not been convicted of any crime so far. Of these, two were closed, while the course of the third is unknown. The family asked Elon Musk, the eldest son, for help. “We really need your advice, help and guidance in these matters, because we see these children suffering daily,” insists a fragment of a letter published by the Times. The magnate did not respond to requests for comment, while his father dismissed the reports as “false and absurd in the extreme.” Errol warned that the accusations were fabricated by members of his family who were trying to get money from him by inciting the children “to tell lies.” He also insisted that he maintains a good relationship with his eldest son, with whom he is “very close”. In 2017, Elon Musk said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine that his father had done “almost all the bad things you can imagine”, and in 2023 he stated in one of his authorized biographies that he does not communicate with him.
