Jean Robert Casimir, a former Haitian police officer and naturalized U.S. citizen, pleaded guilty Tuesday in a Florida federal court to conspiracy, smuggling, and violations of U.S. export control laws for illegally shipping approximately 140 firearms to Haiti.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Casimir, 53, participated in a large-scale firearms trafficking operation that exported at least 140 firearms from the United States to Haiti between August 2020 and December 2024 without the required export licenses.
Federal prosecutors said the weapons were shipped without authorization from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security. Casimir now faces sentencing in the case.
