U.S. President Donald Trump has demanded an investigation into the failures that occurred during his visit to the UN headquarters in New York, where he spoke the previous day before the General Assembly. Specifically, the president referred to the incident that occurred on the escalators, which stopped just as he and his wife, Melania, were about to go up.

“It’s incredible that Melania and I didn’t fall on our faces on the sharp edges of these steel scales,” he wrote on his Truth Social account, where he recalled that the British newspaper The Times reported on Sunday that UN staff had joked about the possibility of turning off the escalators when the president got on them. “Those responsible must be stopped!” he claimed. He also reported that the teleprompter, which was supposed to show him the text of his speech in the Assembly, was also not working. “It was completely dark. I immediately thought: ‘Wow! First the incident on the escalators, and now a damaged teleprompter. What kind of place is this?'”, he indicated, adding that the device turned on only “about 15 minutes” after he began his intervention.
