North Korea launches an unidentified missile before South Korean president’s visit to China

Signal.- North Korea launched an unidentified projectile toward the Sea of Japan (called the East Sea in both Koreas), according to authorities in Seoul and Tokyo, on the same day that South Korean President Lee Jae-myung is scheduled to travel to China for a state visit. The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a statement that the launch, the first of the year and less than a week after the test of two cruise missiles over the Yellow Sea, took place on Sunday morning, without providing further details. For its part, the Japanese Ministry of Defense indicated around 8:00 a.m. local time (11:00 GMT on Saturday) on the social network X that the ballistic missile had already fallen into the waters of the Sea of Japan.
