Washington.- The President of the United States, Donald Trump, justified having closed his eyes during some moments of the meetings with his cabinet because they are “very boring”, although he assured that he listens to everything.

The leader made these statements in an interview with New York Magazine for a report published this Monday on the health of the leader, 79 years old, increasingly in the spotlight due to the bruises that have appeared on his hands and for having been seen dozing off at some public events. “They’re incredibly boring”, he said when asked about closing his eyes during cabinet meetings, although he defended that he listens to every word that is said.

“I’m walking around the room and I have 28 guys. Last time it was three and a half hours. I have to lean back and listen, and I move my hand so people know I’m paying attention. I listen to every word and I can’t wait to get out of there,” he explained.

Trump, who usually claims to be in excellent health, said in the interview that he feels the same as he did 40 years ago.

Last week, the president attributed a bruise that appeared on his left hand during his trip to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum in Davos to a bump against a table. Since his return to power a year ago, the president has been seen on numerous occasions with bruises on his hands, which he usually covers up to hide them and which the White House has attributed to his shaking many hands.

Last summer, the White House made public a medical report that specified that Trump suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition in older people, although it concluded that he enjoys “excellent health”.
