Washington.- The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Monday that, if he were Tom Homan, the “border czar” of his Government, he would arrest the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, for his handling of the protests in Los Angeles against immigration raids.
“If I were Tom, I would do it (…) Gavin likes publicity,” Trump said when asked by the press about a possible arrest of the Democratic governor.
“He has done a terrible job. I like Gavin Newsom; he is a good person, but he is tremendously incompetent, everyone knows it,” added the Republican president.

The White House and the Newsom Government have clashed in recent hours over Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to contain the protests in Los Angeles against immigration raids, a measure rejected by local authorities.
Tom Homan, in charge of immigration policy for the White House, stated on Sunday in an interview that Newsom and the mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, could be arrested. The governor responded with a defiant: “Tom, arrest me.”The ‘border czar’ clarified this Monday that there are no plans to arrest the governor, but warned that the Donald Trump Administration will not tolerate anyone “obstructing the enforcement of the law”.
