President Donald Trump said the United States holds vast energy resources that provide the country with a strategic advantage over China, highlighting America’s oil and gasoline reserves.
“We have a thousand-year supply of gasoline. China doesn’t,” Trump said while discussing U.S. energy resources.
Trump also argued that the United States’ position would become even stronger when considering energy reserves in the Western Hemisphere.
“We have more oil. Now, when you add Venezuela to it, we really have more oil,” he said.
Trump did not provide evidence to support his claim that the United States has a “thousand-year supply” of gasoline, and his remarks came as he emphasized domestic energy production and U.S. resource availability in comparison with China.
