President Donald Trump recognized Shohei Ohtani, praising the Los Angeles Dodgers star for his rare ability to excel as both a pitcher and a hitter.
During his remarks, Trump compared Ohtani to baseball legend Babe Ruth, saying, “If you would have told me you can be the best pitcher and the best hitter at the same time, Babe Ruth was pretty close to that.”
Trump also highlighted Ohtani’s historic accomplishments, noting that no player in more than 150 years of Major League Baseball had won more than one unanimous MVP award before Ohtani. The Japanese superstar is the only player in MLB history to earn three unanimous MVP awards.
The recognition came as Ohtani continues to build one of the most remarkable careers in modern baseball.
