ZAPOPAN, Jalisco.– With a solid combination of pitching and timely offense, the Charros de Jalisco (Mexico) defeated this Tuesday 3-0 the Cangrejeros de Santurce (Puerto Rico) in the second game of the day corresponding to the third date of the 68th Caribbean Series, held at the Pan American Stadium.

The triumph allowed the Charros to place themselves in the second position of the tournament, with a record of two wins and one loss, while the Puerto Rican team suffered its second defeat of the competition. Starting pitcher Luis Miranda was the figure from the mound by pitching six scoreless and one-third innings, in which he allowed only two hits, gave four strikeouts and earned the victory. The Mexican bullpen, made up of Gerardo Reyes, Matt Foster and Trevor Clifton, maintained the dominance, with Clifton being the one who was awarded the save. For Puerto Rico, Eduardo Rivera took the loss after working three and two-thirds innings, in which he allowed five hits and two runs, gave four walks and struck out five batters. In relief, J. Morales pitched, allowing the third run, as well as A. Marrero and C. Fernández. The Mexican offense made a difference early by scoring a run in the first inning, adding another in the third and sealing the score with one more in the fifth episode.
