The victory featured Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who pitched six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, and the offensive power of Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani, and Cuban Andy Pagés. Freeman and Pagés hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning, while Ohtani reached 54 home runs in the campaign, equaling his personal best and the franchise record. Freeman homered again in the fourth inning to seal the game.
With this triumph, the Dodgers reached their 90th victory of the season, solidifying a streak that keeps them as one of the most successful organizations in Major League Baseball in the last decade. However, this year they will have to face the National League Wild Card Series, because Brewers and Phillies have already secured direct passes to the second round. Manager Dave Roberts highlighted his team’s effort in a season marked by the demand and the challenge of trying to repeat the championship:

“Baseball is different from any other sport. The mental part, the endurance… all that matters. We know how difficult it is to win two times in a row, but we have the opportunity to make history,” he stated.
