Santo Domingo. – The young Dominican prospect Johenssy Colomé once again captured attention in the baseball world after making public a luxurious gift for his parents, having recently signed one of the most important contracts awarded to a Dominican talent in the international market.

Colomé, just 16 years old, signed an agreement on January 15th valued at four million dollars, considered the highest contract received by a Dominican prospect in his category. The player was also named by MLB Pipeline as the fifth-best prospect of his generation.

Through his Instagram account, the young baseball player showed the gift he gave his parents: two Mercedes-Benz SUV vehicles, whose combined value would be around 700 thousand dollars.

The post quickly sparked divided reactions among baseball fans and followers. While many highlighted the gesture of gratitude toward his parents, others questioned the high expenditure considering it is his first major professional bonus.

Some users compared the situation to recent statements related to the family of Dominican star Juan Soto, where it was revealed that in his early years as a professional, excessive spending was avoided to prioritize economic stability and the family’s future.

Despite the debate generated on social media, Colomé continues to be one of the main prospects in Dominican baseball and a name to follow regarding his development within the Major League system.
