Estrellas Orientales re-signs relievers Gerónimo Franzúa and Raffi Vizcaíno

SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS.- The Estrellas once again hired the services of relievers Gerónimo Franzúa and Raffi Vizcaíno, the green team reported in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League, through a press release.

Both pitchers became free agents on February 15th, under the labor agreement between the National Federation of Professional Baseball Players (FENAPEPRO) and the aforementioned league, with the restriction that for a month they could only agree with the Estrellas, and then (from March 15th) with all teams (6). The previous contracts of Franzuá and Vizcaíno had expired, as established in the aforementioned agreement between FENAPEPRO and the league.

The left-handed Franzuá has four seasons as a pitcher for the Estrellas under his belt, in which he has a record of 6-2 (in games won and lost), in 47 games and 39.2 innings pitched, with an earned run average of 2.95. Last season he pitched in 8 games and 5.0 innings. He had no decision. He faced 25 batters. His first campaign as a pitcher for the Stars was the 2019-2020 Vizcaíno also debuted with the Estrellas, and in the league, in that season. He has 6 seasons with the club, with a record of 3-3, 3.68 and a saved game in 79 games, 16 of them in the past tournament, in which he had records of 1-1, 3.29, in 13.2 innings, in which he faced 53 batters. Both Franzuá and Vizcaíno are middle relievers. Franzua is frequently used against left-handed batters.

Those two are the first restricted free agent players of the club who agree to stay with the Stars this year.
