SANTO DOMINGO.- The 24-time champion Tigres del Licey announced the start of their training sessions in preparation for their participation in the 2025-26 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League, which will be dedicated to former pitcher and Cooperstown immortal, Juan Marichal.

Monday, September 22nd is the day designated for pitchers and catchers to report to the practices of the glorious blue team. On the 25th of the current month, the rest of the players from the other positions will join. The same will take place at the International Prospect League (IPL) academy located in the El Toro sector in the municipality of Guerra. The Tigers will announce in the coming days their preseason schedule as a way to adjust the team’s preparation for the start of the tournament. The camp of the 24-time national champions will be led by manager Gilbert Gómez; Héctor Borg, who serves as assistant manager; José Umbría, batting coach; Edgar Varela, offensive coordinator; pitching coach Gerardo Casadiego; Anderson Hernández, infield coach; Carlos Lugo, quality control; and the bulk of coaches designated in different functions. In addition, Fidel Peña, who serves as the leader of the Double-A branch of the Milwaukee Brewers and who will be in charge of coordinating the parallel league, with his assistants Devin Fujioka, Vladimir Pérez, and the previously announced medical staff. The Tigres del Licey will begin their Dominican League season on October 15th when they host the Leones del Escogido in the opening day of the 2025-2026 autumn-winter baseball tournament.
