SANTO DOMINGO.– Right-handed pitcher Luis Severino confirmed his commitment to the Dominican Republic National Team and will be part of the roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, further strengthening the pitching staff of the Dominican team.

The information was confirmed by the Dominican team, which continues to receive positive responses from its main pitchers heading to the top national baseball event. With Severino, the Dominican Republic adds experience, hierarchy, and depth to its starting rotation. The pitcher comes from a demanding 2025 season in the Major Leagues, in which he made 29 starts, accumulated 162.2 innings pitched and recorded a record of 8-11, with an ERA of 4.54. In addition, he presented solid advanced indicators, including a FIP of 4.11, 2.77 walks per nine innings and just 0.89 home runs allowed per game, reflecting his ability to limit the rival’s damage. Severino also provided consistency by inducing ground contact (41.2% ground balls) and keeping the opposing power in check (8.4% HR/FB), closing the campaign with 2.5 WAR, numbers that support his value within a high-level rotation.
