Luisito Mercedes Academy to inaugurate Independence Tournament with teams from all over the country

SANTO DOMINGO. – The Luisito Mercedes Sports Academy announced the celebration and inauguration of its traditional Independence Tournament, an event that will bring together teams from different regions of the country in the 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 age categories.

The competition will feature representatives from Cibao, the Eastern region, the South, and the hosts of the National District, made up of players from the organizing academy. The event will be specially dedicated to the Minister of Youth, Carlos Valdez. Sports leader Luisito Mercedes reported that the event organization is 85% complete and highlighted that the provincial delegations are already holding practice matches with a view to competing at the highest level during the opening day and the matches scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The games will be played on the grounds of the Naco League, in the plays of Jardines del Norte and in other stadiums in the capital and the interior of the country. During the tournament, entrepreneurs and officials who have supported national sports will be recognized, and the most outstanding athletes will be awarded medals and trophies. Mercedes thanked the support of the collaborating companies and highlighted the importance of celebrating this event in the Month of the Homeland, promoting healthy competition and the development of minor baseball in the Dominican Republic.
