Houston — The Mexican Baseball Team showed all its offensive power this Sunday by defeating the Brazilian Baseball Team 16-0 in six innings, a result that was decreed by the knockout rule in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

The resounding triumph set the stage for one of the most anticipated duels of Group B: the match between Mexico and the United States Baseball Team, both undefeated in the tournament.
Before more than 36 thousand fans who filled Houston’s Daikin Park, the Mexican offense punished the Brazilian pitching with 16 hits and runs in practically every inning.
The most resounding blow came in the fourth inning, when catcher Alejandro Kirk hit a three-run home run to left-center field to extend Mexico’s lead to double digits.
Later, in the sixth episode, Julián Ornelas sealed the encounter with a two-run home run to right field that activated the run difference rule and ended the game.
The tricolor attack began early. Jonathan Aranda drove in the first run with a single in the first inning and later scored after a double by Kirk. Jarren Duran also stood out, hitting his first home run of the tournament.
Gardener Randy Arozarena, a figure for Mexico in the 2023 Classic, contributed a double and scored twice to contribute to the offensive festival.
All the batters in the Mexican lineup connected at least one hit, while the pitching limited Brazil to just three hits in the game. The South American team is still looking for its first victory in the history of the World Baseball Classic.
