Baltimore.– The Baltimore Orioles claimed Dominican outfielder Marco Luciano from the Pittsburgh Pirates‘ waiver list this Wednesday, while designating fellow Dominican Jhonkensy Noel for assignment, the club reported.

Luciano, who in his time as a prospect for the San Francisco Giants was considered among the most promising talents in baseball, had experience in the Major Leagues with that organization during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, in which he participated in 41 games. In that period, he recorded a batting average of .286, with 25 hits in 115 at-bats, as well as a slugging percentage of .590. During the past campaign, Luciano belonged to the Pirates organization, although he did not see action in the Major Leagues. In 125 Triple-A games, the native of San Francisco de Macorís batted .214, with 23 home runs, 66 RBIs, and an on-base percentage of .335. For his part, Noel had been claimed by Baltimore from waivers last Monday, coming from the Cleveland Guardians. In the 2025 season, the right fielder played 67 games, in which he recorded a .218 average, hit 13 home runs, drove in 28 runs and finished with an OPS of .774. With these moves, the Orioles continue to adjust their roster for next season, evaluating both short-term and medium-term options within their squad and player system.
