Toros del Este bolster their outfield with the signing of Eddie Rosario
LA ROMANA.– The Toros del Este continue to strengthen their roster for the final stretch of the tournament, after announcing the signing of Major League outfielder Eddie Rosario, an addition that aims to enhance the offense and experience of the Romanense team towards the Final Series.
Rosario, 34 years old, has 11 seasons in the Major Leagues, in which he has worn the uniforms of the Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Guardians, Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers, accumulating extensive postseason experience and an outstanding participation in the 2021 World Series, where he was chosen Most Valuable Player of the National League Championship Series with the Braves.
His best MLB season came in 2019, when he hit 32 home runs, drove in 109 runs and batted .276 with Minnesota.
The Puerto Rican recently played in the winter league of Puerto Rico with the Indios de Mayagüez, where he recorded a home run, nine doubles and 11 RBIs in 38 games, showing that he remains in competitive rhythm.
“He’s a high-level player with World Series experience who should make an impact for us at this stage of the championship, as he strengthens both the offense and the outfield,” said Jesús Mejía, general manager of the Toros del Este.
Rosario arrives to cover the vacancy left by the gardener Gilberto Celestino, who suffered an ankle injury and is in the process of recovery with the hope of returning before the playoffs conclude.
The new bullfighting reinforcement will arrive in the country this Saturday, with a view to immediately joining the team and debuting during the weekend, when the Toros visit the Gigantes del Cibao at the Julián Javier Stadium.
