Toros del Este bolster their pitching with the signing of Michael Mariot

LA ROMANA.– The Toros del Este continue to strengthen their roster with a view to the postseason, after announcing this Monday the hiring of right-handed pitcher Michael Mariot, informed the general manager of the club, Jesús Mejía.

Mariot will face his fifth season in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) and the second with the taurine team, after having previously played with the Tigres del Licey and the Gigantes del Cibao. In his LIDOM career, the right-hander has a record of 1-0 and an ERA of 3.38 in 34 games, including three starts. In 37.1 innings pitched, he has allowed 32 hits, 14 runs, given up nine walks and struck out 34 batters, limiting opponents to a batting average of .227. During the 2025 season, Mariot pitched for the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, in the Pacific Coast League offense, where he left a record of 4-4 and 52 strikeouts in 69 innings of work. The pitcher has experience in the Major Leagues, having played with the Kansas City Royals, Philadelphia Phillies and more recently with the Cincinnati Reds in 2023. Michael Mariot was included in the active roster of the Toros as of this Monday and will be available to debut when determined by the coaching staff led by manager Víctor Estévez.
