SANTO DOMINGO.- César Valdez, Paolo Espino and Jorge López stood out with their presence among the figures of the Tigres del Licey who formally opened their training this Monday at the facilities of the International Prospect League, located in the municipality of Guerra.
“This is the time to prepare ourselves to make a commitment and stay united as the great family that we are,” indicated Audo Vicente, VP of operations and general manager.
Vicente, who was accompanied by his operations staff, assured that practicing intelligently is a priority, highlighting communication with the staff of coaches and baseball operations personnel.
In addition to Valdez, pitchers Albert Abreu, Jairo Asencio, Ulises Joaquín, Dany Jiménez, Ovis Portes, Elison Joseph, Reidis Sena, catchers Maxwell Romero and Jommer Hernández; infielder Domingo Leyba and outfielder Luis Barrera attended the first training session.
Also present were first and second year players Manolfi Jiménez, Yophery Rodríguez, Luis Beltrán, Yerald Nin, Elis Cuevas and Ángel Ortiz.
“We all have a goal and we know what it is, and one way to do the right thing to achieve it is to stay focused on the objective and assume commitment, punctuality, and respect for this jersey,” said leader Gilbert Gómez, who led the practices of the glorious blue team.
The Licey’s foreman was accompanied by a large group of coaches such as Héctor Borg, José Umbría, Anderson Hernández, Carlos Lugo, Manny Aybar, Fidel Peña, and César Cabral.
The 2023-24 Lidom season kicks off on October 15th, when the Tigres del Licey host the Leones del Escogido at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, starting at 7:30 PM.
