Bameso is recognized as “Club of the Year” in Abadina’s annual awards ceremony

SANTO DOMINGO, D.R.– The Basketball Association of the National District (Abadina) held its traditional annual awards ceremony this Friday, in which the Bameso club was distinguished as “Club of the Year 2025”, thanks to its outstanding sports and training work throughout the season.

The Bamesian entity received recognition after being crowned champion in the minibasket, U14 and U16 male categories, reaffirming its dominance in the minor divisions of district basketball. The event took place at the Volleyball Training Center, located in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. In the men’s minibasketball tournament, the San Carlos club took second place, followed by Los Pioneros. In the women’s division of that category, the title went to the San Lázaro club, with San Carlos in second position. Precisely, San Lázaro was also recognized as “Club of the Year 2024”, for its performance in that period. In the U14 and U16 male categories, the runner-up positions were obtained by the clubs Los Prados and Mauricio Báez, respectively. The activity was led by Edwin Castillo (Tatico), president of Abadina, accompanied by Héctor Junior Gil, vice president; the Immortal of Sport José “Boyón” Domínguez, general secretary; Alex Romero, in charge of Organization; Santos María, of Press; as well as the vocalists Anthony Fernández and César Pilarte, among other directors recently elected on December 13th.

The plaque that credits Bameso as “Club of the Year 2025” was presented by Castillo and the Executive Committee of Abadina to Alberto Castro, club president; Augusto Castro, advisor; and to the lawyer Pedro Lara, also advisor to the institution.

In thanking for the distinction, Alberto Castro expressed that “this recognition motivates us to continue working with dedication in favor of the children and youth of the sector, promoting values and integral development through sports.” The coaches Víctor Suárez, champion of the male minibasket; Carlos “Tito” Banks, U14 champion; and Renzo Germán, monarch of the Chinese Championship U18 category organized by the Mauricio Báez club, as well as Carlos Flete, were present for the Bameso club. Mario Ventura, champion leader in the male U16 category, could not attend. The annual Abadina awards ceremony began with a religious blessing by athlete Elián Benet, a member of the Bameso minibasket team and the district selection that participated in the National Convivio.
