Luka Doncic is suspended for one game for accumulation of technical fouls in the NBA

MIAMI, UNITED STATES. — The NBA suspended Slovenian star Luka Dončić, current player for the Los Angeles Lakers, for one game without pay after the point guard received his 16th technical foul of the season, reaching the limit set by the league.

According to NBA regulations, any player or coach is automatically suspended for one game upon reaching 16 technical fouls during the regular season. Furthermore, the regulations stipulate that, from that point on, the player will be suspended for an additional game for every two technical fouls received thereafter. Dončić, 27, has had a stellar season, leading the league in scoring with 33.7 points per game and ranking third in assists with 8.2 per game, being the main offensive figure for the Lakers. The technical foul that caused the sanction was sanctioned with 5:12 minutes remaining in the third quarter in the Lakers’ 116-99 victory over the Brooklyn Nets last Friday. The Slovenian point guard will serve his suspension this Monday, when the Lakers host the Washington Wizards. Despite the sanction, Dončić has led the Lakers to a 48-26 record, placing the team in third position in the Western Conference in the final stretch of the regular season.
