OKLAHOMA CITY.– The Oklahoma City Thunder guard and current NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, will not participate in the 2026 All-Star Game due to an abdominal injury, the franchise reported this Tuesday.

The player will be reevaluated after the All-Star break, scheduled for next week, as he continues his recovery process. Gilgeous-Alexander did not play minutes in the last quarter of Oklahoma City’s victory over the Orlando Magic (128-92), a game in which he had been listed as questionable due to a sprained finger, according to the official injury report. The abdominal ailment will prevent his participation in the All-Star game, which will be held on February 15 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, the new home of the Los Angeles Clippers. This was going to be the fourth appearance of the Canadian in an All-Star Game and he had been selected as a starter, after the joint vote of the public, the media and the league players. Gilgeous-Alexander was called to represent the World Team, in an All-Star game that this year will present an innovative format, with a mini-tournament type round robin between three teams: two from the United States (Stars and Stripes) and one international. The two best teams would advance to the final, leaving behind the traditional duel between the Eastern and Western conferences.
