Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM) announced this Tuesday the official 24-player roster that will represent the Dominican Republic in the baseball tournament of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, with the goal of winning the gold medal that the country has not obtained since Mayagüez 2010.

The team combines the experience of players with Major League Baseball backgrounds and the talent of Dominican professional baseball. The selection was presented by the team’s management after several weeks of evaluating a large group of pre-selected players, until defining the 24 players who will wear the national uniform at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium.

The team’s catchers will be Pedro Severino and Julio Rodríguez.

The infield will be composed of Jimmy Paredes, Yairo Muñoz, Michael de León, Alfredo Reyes, Deivi Muñoz and Omar Meregildo.

In the outfield, Gilberto Celestino, Raimel Tapia, Diego Hernández, Ricardo Céspedes Jr. and Juan Guerrero were called up.

The pitching staff will be composed of César Valdez, Óscar de la Cruz, Esmil Rogers, Jhan Maríñez, Enny Romero, Cristopher Molina, Carlos Belén, Fernando Abad, Jean C. Henríquez, Miguel Castro and Luis Peña.

During the press conference, the president of FEDOM, Juan Núñez, highlighted the competitive level of the team and the responsibility of representing the country as the host of the event.

“Today we present a team that combines Major League hierarchy with the talent cultivated every day in our professional leagues. Playing Central American and Caribbean Games at home is a huge responsibility, and this roster has the quality and character necessary to bring the gold medal back to the country,” he expressed.

For his part, the team manager, Luis Polonia Jr., explained that the roster formation was the result of an evaluation process that prioritized the balance between experience, physical condition, and commitment to the national team.

“We feel proud and confident with the selection we made. We chose the 24 players that we understand give the team the best combination of hitting, defense, and arm on the mound. Each one knows the responsibility that representing this jersey in our own home entails,” he stated.

While manager Félix Fermín Jr. assured that the group is prepared to compete for the title.

“We have seen dedication and discipline in every practice, and that is reflected in the roster we are announcing today. We are going to compete game by game, with the humility of knowing that every opponent will give their best effort, but with the conviction that we can win the gold,” he stated.

The Dominican Republic is part of Group A along with Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Curaçao, while Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Nicaragua make up Group B.

The Dominican team will debut on Friday, July 31 against Puerto Rico, in a match scheduled for 7:00 at night at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium.

The XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will be held from July 24 to August 8, with the participation of 37 countries, more than 6,000 athletes, 40 sports, and 56 disciplines.

It will be the third occasion that the Dominican Republic hosts this regional sporting event, in which baseball will seek to return to the top of the podium and bring the gold medal back to the country in its flagship sport.
