London (EFE).- A Barcelona fan made one of the most surreal mistakes of his life this Tuesday. He bought a ticket for the Newcastle United-Barcelona match of  the Champions League, traveled more than 500 kilometers thinking he would see his team, but showed up at the wrong St. James’ Park. Instead of arriving at Newcastle’s stadium, he arrived at the St. James’ Park of the modest Exeter City, according to this club.

This fan, whose name has not been revealed at the moment, at least didn’t leave without witnessing a football match. The club, as a gesture of gratitude and to try to repair the disappointment he had, tried to help him as much as they could and offered him a ticket to see the match they were playing that same night against Lincoln City in League One (English Third Division).

At 540 kilometers

The Exeter, a mid-table team that lost 10-1 against Manchester City in the FA Cup this season, is nowhere near St James’ Park, Newcastle’s stadium. There are 366 miles between one place and the other, that is, 540 kilometers, but it is possible that the fan made a mistake when searching for St. James’ Park on their mobile and it directed them to Exeter’s field instead of Newcastle’s. «One of our volunteers came to the offices and told us that a man had appeared to see Barcelona. From what we understood, he came from London. I think he put «St.James’ Park» in Google Maps and followed the directions to the wrong stadium», commented Adam Spencer, in charge of tickets at Exeter’s field. “You’re welcome whenever you want,” added this employee.
