A detainee for racist gestures at the Tartiere against Real Madrid

Oviedo (EFE).- The National Police has arrested a Real Oviedo fan for staging racist gestures and sounds from the local animation stand of the Carlos Tartiere stadium during the match between the Asturian club and Real Madrid on August 24, the Superior Headquarters of Asturias reported this Wednesday.

The follower, arrested for a crime against moral integrity and a hate crime after being identified thanks to the analysis of images and videos, made movements and sounds imitating a monkey in the 37th minute, coinciding with the celebration of the first goal by the visiting team, which was scored by Kylian Mbappé. These facts were reported after the match by the Professional Football League (LFP), which warned that the images had reached a wider audience due to their broadcast on television and social media. After giving a statement at the police station, the man was brought before the Investigating Court number 1 on duty in Oviedo. In addition, he was proposed for administrative sanction for infringement of the Law against violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sport, which provides for fines of 60,000 to 650,000 euros for very serious offenses, as well as the prohibition of access to the playing fields.
