Paris (EFE).- Paris Saint-Germain asked its former striker Kylian Mbappé on Monday for compensation of 180 million euros for the “loss of opportunity” that resulted from the current Real Madrid player’s refusal in July 2023 to accept a millionaire transfer offer to another club.

The request from the Parisian club responds to Mbappé’s claim for 240 million euros claimed for the reclassification of his contract and for the moral harassment he says he suffered at the end of his contractual relationship with PSG.
“Numerous pressures” from PSG on Mbappé
For her part, Mbappé’s lead lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, denounced before a hearing held in a Paris Labor Court “the numerous pressures” from PSG for not wanting to renew his contract until 2025 and insisted that the agreement between the club and the player to extend the bond “is not valid because there was no homologation.”
“There was enormous psychological and media pressure against my client,” said Verheyden, who recalled the weeks in which Mbappé was sidelined from the first team in the summer of 2023 for not having renewed and criticized the attitude of the club, which “thinks that everything can be bought,” she said.
The lawyer assured that Mbappé lived through a “horrible time” when he was told he wouldn’t play anymore if he didn’t renew.
The player was excluded from PSG’s starting team at the beginning of the 2023-24 season because he wanted to fulfill his contract until the summer of 2024, and ruled out any renewal.
But Mbappé rejoined the starting eleven after the first matchday of the season.
Different Versions
According to PSG, that return to the front row was due to an agreement whereby the striker renounced a part of the sums owed at the end of his contract so as not to damage the club’s finances. A version that Mbappé’s defense denies, as does the millionaire offer to go and play in Saudi Arabia.
“On July 22, a Saudi club offered to buy Kylian Mbappé for 300 million euros. The offer was valid until midnight on July 25 (of 2023). But I never saw it on my desk; it was never presented to him,” his lawyer assured today.
The captain of the French national team, who finally
signed for Real Madrid in the summer of 2024 after his contract with PSG expired without any transfer taking place, is claiming 55 million euros in unpaid bonuses and salaries.
His lawyers calculate that, if his fixed-term contract had become indefinite, in addition to the damages suffered, the club would have to pay the player 240 million euros.
