La Mega Parranda Navideña is 40 years old and ready to light up Christmas across the country
Santo Domingo. – The Mega Christmas Parranda celebrates its 40th anniversary and is ready to light up Christmas across the 48,000 (and a bit more) square kilometers of the Dominican Republic.
This spectacular platform arrives with a formidable lineup of merengue, bachata, salsa, merengue típico, tropical and Caribbean fusions from the most important music stars of the country that is “on the same path as the sun and stars”.
With the support of President Luis Abinader and a part of the private sector and mass consumption product companies, this joyful and creative Mega Parranda Navideña platform guarantees work to numerous artists, musicians, dancers, chorus singers, sound technicians, radio stations, social networks, composers, lighting technicians, entertainers, technical and support staff in the staging of massive concerts, makeup artists, hairdressers, beauty salons, motorcyclists, taxi drivers, tent makers, waiters, street vendors, fast food businesses, shops, bars, grocery stores, gas stations and advertising buses: an unstoppable machinery of the local economic movement in each city.
“With 40 years making the people happy every Christmas season, creating direct and indirect jobs and boosting the formal and informal economy, this artistic platform is a tradition that mayors of the main municipalities of the country take advantage of to celebrate with the community and the absent Dominicans who come from all over the world to meet with family, friends and neighbors during the Christmas festivities,” said the ideologue of this impressive platform, the artistic entrepreneur Luis Medrano.
This event began four decades ago as part of the traditional inauguration of the famous Bermudez Christmas tree, which Don Poppy Bermudez gave to the city of Santo Domingo at the obelisk on the malecon. The first artists who performed were Cuco Valoy and his Tribe, Victor Irizarry and Vickiana.
Now, transformed into a gigantic national platform, during the oldest and most popular Christmas tradition festival, more than 400,000 people gather at concerts throughout the country.
This year, among the artists scheduled for the first concerts of the 40th anniversary of the Mega Parranda Navideña are: Fernando Villalona; Luis Miguel del Amargue; Chimbala; Wason Brazoban; Omega; Jandy Ventura; Steffany Constanza; Sergio Vargas; El Rubio del Acordeón; Teodoro Reyes; El Chaval; Silvio Mora; Bulin 47; El Blachy; Eddy Herrera; Aníbal Bravo; Aramis Camilo; Toño Rosario; Fefita La Grande; Conjunto Quisqueya; Krispy; Los Hermanos Rosario; Mozart La Para; Kinito Méndez; Allendy.
The first installments of the 40th anniversary of the Mega Christmas Party begin in Baní, on Tuesday, November 18th in its Central Park; in Santo Domingo Este, on Sunday, November 23rd at the Faro a Colón, and in Mao (Valverde), on Tuesday, November 25th in the Amado Franco Bido Park, celebrating the 143rd anniversary of the municipality of Mao, Valverde province. Also, Villa Sombrero Baní will have its big concert on Friday, November 28th in the Central Park; on the Malecón of the capital, in the National District of Santo Domingo, on Saturday, November 29th in the Eugenio María de Hostos Park, and in Cotuí, on Tuesday, December 2nd on the Avenida del Parquecito.
Santa Bárbara de Samaná will have a lot of music on Wednesday, December 3rd at the Malecón; Nagua, on Thursday, December 4th at the Central Park; San Francisco de Macorís, on Friday, December 5th at the Central Park; Salcedo, on Saturday, December 6th at the Central Park; Moca, on Sunday, December 7th at the Cáceres Park; Las Matas de Farfán, on Wednesday, December 10th at the Central Park; San Juan de la Maguana, on Thursday, December 11th at the Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deño Amphitheater, and Neyba, on Friday, December 12th at the Central Park.
With a dynamic and enthusiastic presentation, led by popular national and local entertainers, the Mega Christmas Parranda arrives in its 40th anniversary to bring joy and connect the communities of all cities.
