Spain defender Marc Cucurella has fulfilled a promise he made before the 2026 FIFA World Cup by getting a tattoo of head coach Luis de la Fuente following Spain’s championship victory. The left-back visited renowned tattoo artist Ganga, who has worked with stars such as LeBron James, to have the coach’s portrait inked on the back of his arm.
Cucurella shared a video of the finished tattoo on social media alongside the caption, “Promises are meant to be kept.” With the gesture, he became the first Spain international to follow through on one of the team’s celebratory pledges after winning the World Cup.
Attention has now turned to other Spanish players who also made promises during the tournament. Álex Baena and Borja Iglesias have yet to fulfill theirs, while Lamine Yamal pledged to grow a beard and mustache for three weeks if Spain lifted the World Cup trophy.
