With this work, Minister Cruz maintains his pace of work, fulfilling the word pledged by President Luis Abinader during his tours of the country to bring hope and joy to the youth of each territory. The official made the revelation during a visit to a game of the final series of the local superior basketball tournament between the teams of La Joya and Pueblo Arriba, where he donated 500 thousand pesos to support that event. With the remodeling of that facility, Cruz will conclude his tour of the entire northwest line, as instructed by President Luis Abinader when he appointed him to the position in August 2024. Cruz reported that he spoke with President Luis Abinader to tell him about the conditions of the basketball pavilion and “he sent a message to all the young people, athletes and basketball lovers of the municipality of Sabaneta in Santiago Rodríguez, that in the next tournament they will have a completely new sports center”. The minister added that the repair will include a new roof (the current one already has leaks), a new court, certified by FIBA to play in the NBA, the conditioning of the offices, the bathrooms, the stands and other spaces, as the youth and athletes of that population deserve. With this installation, Minister Kelvin Cruz seals the four provinces of the northwest line, which includes the provinces Valverde (Mao), Montecristi and Dajabón, positively impacting thousands of young athletes from those territories. When Minister Cruz’s presence among the spectators was announced, there was immense excitement, because a government official of his level had not attended that basketball tournament, which is one of the most competitive in the Cibao region, for more than 10 years. The minister was accompanied by the provincial governor, Glehany Azcona Torres; the mayor Félix Marte, the deputy Nicolás Tolentino López and other local authorities.
