Santo Domingo.- With great emotion and nostalgia, Daniela Tovar, daughter of the Dominican surrealist artist Iván Tovar and president of the Iván Tovar Foundation, celebrated this Wednesday the installation of the monumental sculpture The Chaise Adulte (The Adult Chair) on the front esplanade of the Museum of Modern Art of the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte.
“This work fills me with pride. Yes, it is also joy, but above all it is love; love for a father who left us a work that is still alive, that continues to challenge and that continues to move us,” expressed Daniela Tovar during the unveiling ceremony.
Thanks to the Iván Tovar Foundation, the support of Dominican collector Héctor José Rizek Sued and the work of a multidisciplinary team, the work can now be appreciated by the Dominican public, reaffirming the commitment of the Museum of Modern Art to bring modern and contemporary art closer to the population and highlight the legacy of Dominican artists with international projection.
