The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, announced that the country will host the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2026 Regional Dialogue for Latin America, an important international forum that brings together government leaders, experts, multilateral organizations, and private sector representatives to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the future.
The designation of the Dominican Republic as host was formalized through a letter of intent signed between the Dominican Government and the authorities of the United Arab Emirates, within the framework of the 2026 edition of the World Governments Summit held in Dubai.
As announced, the regional meeting will be held at the end of 2026 and will turn the country into a benchmark for the exchange of ideas, experiences, and proposals aimed at the modernization of the State, digital transformation, government innovation, and sustainable development in Latin America.

The president highlighted that the election of the Dominican Republic represents recognition of the international positioning achieved by the country, as well as its economic and institutional stability and its capacity to serve as a bridge between Latin America and other regions of the world.
Likewise, he explained that the event will allow for strengthening relationships with governments, international organizations, and investors, in addition to promoting initiatives linked to innovation, the efficiency of public services, and the digital transformation of state institutions.
