Bonao.– The Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, announced in this city the celebration of the First Regional Book and Culture Fair Cibao 2026, an event that will bring together the literary and cultural richness of the Northern region of the country and that will take place from April 20 to 26, 2026, in the gardens of the Gran Teatro del Cibao, in Santiago.
During the announcement, the official explained that Monseñor Nouel was chosen as the first province visited within the event’s socialization tour, due to its wide cultural, historical, and artistic diversity, with the aim of offering detailed information and coordinating a worthy representation of the province in this important regional fair.
The provincial governor, Adela Tejada Gil, highlighted the multiple cultural virtues of Bonao, known as the Villa de las Hortensias, emphasizing its historical legacy and artistic dynamism. In her words, she thanked President Luis Abinader for his interest in promoting culture at the national level, as well as Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo for faithfully interpreting the importance of the Regional Book and Culture Fair as a space for the strengthening of ideas and identity.
Similarly, the municipal mayor, Eberto Núñez, valued the realization of this fair as transcendental, highlighting the participation of the 14 provinces of the Cibao, which will allow for unprecedented cultural integration in the region.
The activity was attended by Pastor de Moya, Deputy Minister of Cultural Identity of the Ministry of Culture; Juan Trinidad, José Lino Martínez, Odis Quezada, from the Educational District 16-04, as well as the writers Antonio Taveras, Ángela Mena and Claudio Pascual, among other representatives of the literary, educational and cultural fields.
The Cibao Regional Book and Culture Fair 2026 is projected as a meeting space for writers, artists, cultural managers, and the general public, with the purpose of promoting reading, fostering creativity, and strengthening the cultural identity of the Northern region of the country.
