Santo Domingo.– As part of Operation Quisqueya Solidaria 2026, the Government of the Dominican Republic, under instructions from the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, ordered the shipment of a significant cargo of medicines to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, transported on an aircraft of the Dominican Republic Air Force (FARD), in support of the population affected by the recent earthquakes.

The air mission was coordinated by the Ministry of Defense, in a joint effort with the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MISPAS) and the Essential Medicines Program and Central Logistics Support (PROMESE/CAL), institutions that worked in a coordinated manner in the identification, selection, preparation, and dispatch of the medicines sent to address the most urgent needs derived from this emergency.

The medications will be delivered to the competent Venezuelan authorities for their distribution in accordance with the priorities established within the national emergency response, thus strengthening cooperation and solidarity between both nations.

This new shipment is in addition to the deployment of the specialized Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team of the Specialized Corps for Emergency and Disaster Mitigation (CEMED), the transport of support material for rescue operations, the establishment of two collection centers for the receipt of donations, and the protection and assistance actions for Dominican citizens carried out by the Government in Venezuelan territory.

As part of the next phase of Operation Quisqueya Solidaria 2026, the Dominican government is also advancing preparations for the shipment of a vessel with humanitarian aid to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The ship, whose departure is scheduled for the coming days, will transport a significant volume of food, medicine, water, medical supplies, and other essential items collected through the collection centers set up by the Ministry of Defense, thus expanding the assistance capacity that the Dominican Republic provides to the Venezuelan people.

The Ministry of Defense highlighted that the Armed Forces continue to make their operational, logistical, and air and maritime transport capabilities available to the State to ensure an efficient and timely response, reaffirming the Dominican Republic’s commitment to international cooperation, solidarity among peoples, and assistance to nations affected by natural disasters.
