Album “A Tribute to Benny Moré and Nat King Cole” unites the legacies of two legends
Miami. – The album “A Tribute to Benny Moré and Nat King Cole“, a jazz production that honors two icons whose historical connection never materialized in life, is now available on all digital platforms.
Although they both shared an era —Benny Moré taking his music to the United States and Nat King Cole performing in Havana—, they never met in person. The album imagines that encounter, fusing jazz with Latin rhythms in a narrative charged with nostalgia.
The production includes eight tracks: four classics by Moré and four by Cole: “Te Quedarás”, “Unforgettable”, “Preferir Perderte”, “When I Fall in Love”, “Fiebre De Ti”, “Quizás, Quizás, Quizás” (Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps), “Camarera De Mi Amor” and “Smile”.
The project is led by pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, winner of multiple GRAMMY® awards, along with arranger, producer, and saxophonist Yainer Horta, and the young saxophonist Joey Calveiro. The lineup is completed by José Armando Gola (acoustic bass), Hilario Bell (drums), Richard Bravo (percussion), and Fernando Teo Calveiro (guitar).
Recorded live and on tape at Criteria Recording Studios, under the engineering of Carlos Álvarez, the album was mixed by engineer Oscar Autie at El Cerrito Records, who also performed the mix in an immersive audio format (ImmersiveAudio / Dolby Atmos) for an immersive sound experience of the highest quality. Mastering was handled by Felipe Tichauer at Red Traxx Mastering.
The musical and general production of “A Tribute to Benny Moré and Nat King Cole” was carried out by Yainer Horta and Jossel Calveiro, while the executive production was in charge of Jossel Calveiro, Kenya Autie and Fernando Teo Calveiro. This project has the management of Ángel Zamora and the production coordination of María González, under the record label Calveiro Entertainment LLC.
