Chicago federal judge temporarily blocks National Guard deployment
Chicago.- A federal judge temporarily blocked on Thursday the deployment of the National Guard in Illinois, ordered by the Trump Administration to protect immigration raids in that state, after a contingent of 200 Texas soldiers was sent two days ago to the Chicago area.
Magistrate April M. Perry announced that she will issue a temporary restraining order limiting the mobilization of troops in Illinois, considering that there is no “credible evidence” of a risk of “rebellion”, an argument with which the representatives of the Department of Justice (DOJ) tried to justify the deployment.
