Highlighting the increase in pensions for retired doctors
Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Medical College (
CMD) publicly thanked President Luis Abinader for the support and all the claims achieved for doctors and the health sector, from the application of a historic increase in the pensions of retired doctors.
The president of the guild, Dr. Waldo Ariel Suero, assured that these actions make Abinader one of the presidents who has contributed the most to the well-being of the health sector and, especially, to that of Dominican doctors.
“As president of the CMD and by virtue of so many achievements made in favor of doctors, we must publicly recognize and congratulate President Luis Abinader, who responsibly and supportively has supported us in these just claims,” said Dr. Suero.
As part of the Government’s agreements with the CMD, starting January 1, 2026, an increase in the pensions of retired doctors will be applied.

Consequently, retired doctors currently receiving between RD$50,000 and RD$75,000 monthly will now earn RD$75,000. Meanwhile, those who receive between RD$75,000 will see their pension increased to reach RD$100,000.
The president of the CMD also acknowledged the joint effort and work of the National Board of Directors of the union, as well as the president of the Retired and Pensioned Doctors, Dr. Mercedes Rodríguez, and the general secretary, Dr. Luis A. Peña Núñez, in the materialization of this important achievement.
The Dominican Medical College reaffirms its commitment to continue fighting for better conditions for all its members and to continue the dialogue with the authorities for the benefit of the national health system.
