Colombia.– Colombia and Dominican Republic’s offensive power was evident this Monday, as they achieved categorical victories against Venezuela and Mexico, respectively, which secured them a place in the grand final of the Worgbev Internacional Baseball Classic U-13 “Eugenio Baena Calvo In Memoriam”.
In the “Campito de Bocagrande”, the ninth host of Colombia brought out its heavy artillery and defeated Venezuela with a score of 16 runs to 7. The match was marked by home runs from José Frías, Michael Fajardo and Santiago Pérez, while on the mound Santiago Aguilar had a quality start to take the victory.
The most outstanding player of the game was Michael Fajardo, chosen as Most Valuable Player after batting 3-5, with six RBIs and a home run. The winning pitcher was Aguilar, while Diego Freitez took the loss for Venezuela.
For their part, the representation of the Dominican Republic gave no margin to Mexico and prevailed with a resounding 12-0, thus achieving their classification to the final. The Dominicans settled the match in just four innings, with an offense led by Gadiel Félix, chosen MVP of the game after hitting 2-2, with a double, a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. On the mound, Emmanuel Guerrero was the winning pitcher, while Jonathan López took the loss.
With these results, the international U-13 category tournament will experience a decisive day tomorrow, Tuesday:
11:30 a.m. – Third place match: Mexico vs. Venezuela
3:00 p.m. – Grand final for the title: Colombia vs. Dominican Republic
Both matches will be played at the “Campito de Bocagrande” and will be broadcast live through the YouTube channel of Club Hermanos León, in a production by JC Producciones.
The international classic bids farewell with a high-level double bill, in which two youth powers like Colombia and the Dominican Republic will compete for the continental glory of children’s baseball.
