Santo Domingo.– Former director of the Military and Police Commission of the Ministry of Public Works (COMIPOL), Colonel Douglas V. Borrell, passed away this Friday, March 6, after health complications caused by a heart attack that led to a stroke while he was admitted to the Center for Diagnosis, Advanced Medicine and Telemedicine (Cedimat). Borrell developed a technical career for years within the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), where he stood out for his work in the areas of road maintenance and operations on highways.

In 2019, he was appointed director of COMIPOL, the entity responsible for security and assistance on the main highways and roads of the country. From that position, he coordinated surveillance patrols, the crane system, and various assistance operations for drivers traveling on the country’s main roads.

During his management, he promoted actions aimed at strengthening the presence of the commission’s units on the roads, as well as improving the response to emergencies and vehicle breakdowns, providing support to thousands of drivers. He also served as director of the Highway Maintenance Program of MOPC.
