Fine Arts celebrates the success of its award-winning artists at the Soberano Awards 2026

Santo Domingo. – The General Directorate of Fine Arts (DGBA) expressed its pride and extended its congratulations to the artists of this institution who were awarded at the 41st edition of the Soberano Awards 2026 of the Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte), held on Wednesday, March 18 at the National Theater “Eduardo Brito”. Among them, Maestro José Antonio Molina, director of the National Symphony Orchestra, stood out with the production “Molina & Veitía: Music in Motion,” presented on May 31, 2025, in the Carlos Piantini Hall. The show, conceived by the director of the National Theater, Carlos Veitía, for the National Symphony Orchestra, paid tribute to the centenary of the influential musician Papa Molina, as well as the outstanding career of the musical director himself. In the theatrical field, Indiana Brito, director of the Teatro Rodante, was recognized as Director of the Year for the play “La gran depresión”, presented at the Sala Ravelo of the National Theater between July 4 and 13, 2025. Similarly, the renowned member of the National Theater Company, Manuel Raposo, won the award for Best Film Actor for his role in “La Bachata de Biónico”, adding this achievement to his recent recognition at the La Silla Awards as Best Leading Actor for the same production.

Another of the high distinctions was received by the director of the Dominican National Ballet, Pablo Pérez, as Choreographer of the Year, for his beautiful work in “Music in Motion”, consolidating the creative excellence of the production. In a special way, the DGBA congratulated the former director of the Dominican Traveling Theater, Carlota Carretero, who was recognized with the Soberano to the Performing Arts, in recognition of her career and great contributions. In that sense, the general director of Fine Arts, Marianela Sallet, highlighted that these achievements reflect the commitment, discipline, and quality of our talents, who continue to elevate Dominican art and culture on national and international stages. “We extend our most sincere congratulations to the members of the General Directorate of Fine Arts, as well as to the director of the National Theater, Carlos Veitía, and to the leading actress Carlota Carretero, who were recognized at the Soberano Awards, an achievement that exalts not only their talent, but also the constant work in favor of Dominican art and culture,” he expressed. Likewise, he encouraged those who were not awarded on this occasion to continue creating, striving, and contributing with the same dedication, understanding that the true value of art transcends any recognition.
