Every March 30 is the International Day of Zero Waste, a date proclaimed by the United Nations with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of reducing waste generation and promoting more sustainable consumption models.

This initiative arises from the growing problem of waste pollution, especially plastics, which seriously affect the environment, the oceans, and human health. The UN promotes this day as an opportunity for governments, companies, and citizens to adopt responsible practices that minimize environmental impact. The concept of “zero waste” promotes reducing, reusing, and recycling, betting on a circular economy where products have a longer useful life and generate as little waste as possible.

On this date, educational campaigns, cleaning days, workshops, and community activities are carried out in different parts of the world, with the aim of promoting sustainable habits such as avoiding the use of single-use plastics, opting for reusable products, and properly managing waste. International Zero Waste Day reminds us that small individual actions can generate big collective changes in protecting the planet.
