Jerusalem.- The Government of Israel denounced this Monday new attacks attributed to the Shiite group Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, despite the agreement reached between the United States and Iran to end the regional conflict and establish a cessation of military operations.
According to Israeli authorities, Hezbollah fighters launched drones and projectiles at positions of Israeli forces that remain in Lebanese territory. The attacks occurred amidst a relative decrease in clashes following the announcement of the agreement promoted by Washington and Tehran.
Israel maintained that it will keep its military presence in certain areas of southern Lebanon for security reasons and reiterated that it will respond to any aggression. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that Israeli troops will continue to operate in areas considered strategic as long as threats against the country persist.

For its part, Hezbollah has warned that it will not accept Israeli attacks within Lebanese territory and has conditioned its stance on the fulfillment of the commitments made by Israel. An official from the group stated that the organization had not carried out operations following the announcement of the agreement, although tensions at the border continue.
The pact between the United States and Iran contemplates the cessation of hostilities on several fronts in the region, including the Lebanese one, and provides for the formal signing of a memorandum in Switzerland over the coming days. However, the incidents recorded in the last few hours evidence the fragility of the understanding and the difficulties in consolidating a lasting truce in the Middle East.
Violence between Israel and Hezbollah has left thousands dead and more than a million displaced in Lebanon since the start of the military escalation, while the international community maintains its calls to respect the ceasefire and avoid a further expansion of the conflict.
