Santo Domingo. – With the purpose of providing higher technical professional training opportunities at a technological level to talented young people in the country, the Instituto Tecnológico de las Américas (ITLA) awarded 130 scholarships to students as part of the second version of the umbrella program BECAS ITLA. The event was headed by the rector of ITLA Mtro. Rafael Félix García and was attended by important personalities representing non-profit, educational, and business organizations.
In the framework of the second edition of the ITLA 2025 Scholarship program, the La Oreja Media Foundation, the Salesian Society, and the Supérate Social Development Directorate stand out as official sponsors, reaffirming their commitment to educational development and social inclusion through access to high-quality technical studies.
During his central words of the event, the rector of ITLA, Mtro. Rafael Félix García, congratulated the young people on this new professional journey and invited them to assume the student commitment with responsibility, discipline and passion.
“Each scholarship we award today represents a door that opens to knowledge, innovation, and opportunity. We know that behind each student there is a dream, a family, and a community that will benefit from what is learned here. Therefore, this program is not only an individual contribution: it is an investment in the future of the Dominican Republic. A contribution that represents an investment of just over 14 million pesos distributed in 130 scholarships,” said Félix García.
In that sense, he took the opportunity to recognize the importance of the value of the double helix alliance species, an alliance between the State – Academy and the business sector, which he described as opportune because, as he explained, the development of a country does not depend only on material resources, but on human talent prepared to face the challenges of the digital age. Based on the fact that companies need trained, creative, and visionary young people; the State needs educated citizens who promote innovation and progress. And ITLA is honored to be that bridge that unites both worlds.
Leading private sector companies have also joined this valuable initiative, whose support makes the expansion of these training opportunities possible. These include Grupo Ramos, Solvex, Altice Dominicana, DP World Caucedo, STI DATOS, MODAFOCA, OASIS GATE, Banreservas, Banco Popular, BHD, Grupo Estrella, Arajet, CESAC, the PIISA Industrial Park, Santo Domingo Cybernetic Park, Las Américas Industrial Park, and The Asterion Wealth Advisory Group. Their participation reaffirms the importance of public-private collaboration in the training of talent that will drive the technological and economic transformation of the country.
Different authorities were present, including the congresswoman of Sto. Dgo. Norte, Patricia Núñez; mayors Eduardo Kery of La Romana and Juan Ventura of Los Llanos; Colonel Pilot Manuel de Jesús Gómez, director of the Civil Aviation Security School, CESAC, among others. Likewise, the ITLA directors, Pedro Pablo Castro, Academic Vice-Rector; Gary Ruiz, Vice-Rector of Extension; José R. Bernard, Administrative and Financial Vice-Rector ITLA; Darlin Toribio, Dean of Science and Technology; Winston Paulino, Director of Cabinet; Gilber Gómez, Director of Technology; Hildeya González, head of the scholarship department; and Luis Móises Moscoso, coordinator of the scholarship department.
