Man sentenced to 20 years in prison for physical and sexual assault against woman and six-year-old girl in SDE

Santo Domingo. – In response to the Public Ministry’s request, a court in Santo Domingo Este sentenced a man to 20 years in prison for physical and sexual assault against a woman and a six-year-old girl. The processor, Roger Antonio Rosario Burdier, was sentenced by the judges of the First Collegiate Court of Santo Domingo Este, Elizabeth Esperanza Rodríguez Espinal, Flor E. Batista Polo and José Leonel Asencio Quezada.


When filing her complaint with the prosecuting body, the woman indicated that the defendant, after physically assaulting her, threatened her with death, causing her psychological distress, which could be corroborated through the evaluations carried out by specialists in the investigation of the facts.

Regarding the girl, the victim revealed the situation to her grandfather. The situation was confirmed and supported through psychological evaluations, in addition to testimonial, expert, procedural, and documentary evidence.


The Public Ministry, represented by litigating prosecutor Alberto Olivares, presented the evidence demonstrating that the defendant violated the Dominican Penal Code, Law 24-97, and Law 136-03, which establishes the Code for the Protection of the Fundamental Rights of Children and Adolescents.
