Santo Domingo.– The Ministry of Education (Minerd) reported this Tuesday that the school calendar remains unchanged and confirmed that the 2026-2027 school year will begin on August 24 in all educational centers in the country.
With this clarification, the institution dismissed the reports circulating about a supposed postponement of the start of classes to the month of September.
The Minerd explained that it is working on preparations to guarantee an organized opening of the new academic period, including the conditioning of school facilities, the availability of spaces for students, and the strengthening of the necessary services to receive more than two million students from the pre-university educational system.
The entity noted that these advances were evaluated during a meeting of the Special Commission for the Opening of the 2026-2027 School Year, led by the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, together with those responsible for the different areas involved in the planning of the next academic period.

During the meeting, the authorities reviewed the status of the work being carried out in the educational centers and coordinated the actions that will allow guaranteeing the start of classes on the established date, in accordance with the official calendar of the national educational system.
