The activity took place in the Juan Ulises García Saleta (Wiche) hall of the COD. In addition to Minister Cruz, the event was chaired by engineer Garibaldy Bautista, president of the Olympic organization; José Monegro, president of the Organizing Committee of the games, and other personalities. The delivery of resources was made by disposition of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, who wishes that the athletes receive on time everything necessary to have the best performance in the sporting event. The Minister of Sports highlighted the president’s effort and support so that no effort is spared in forming a delegation that puts the country at the highest level. Cruz stated that, in addition to financial resources, a substantial investment is also being made in the repair and construction of sports facilities that will serve as the stage for the different competitions. He recalled that the country has a great commitment to the organization of these games, while highlighting the presence of the presidents of the different sports federations. Cruz pointed out that work is being done in coordination with the Ministry of Housing, the Organizing Committee of the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, and the COD to ensure the success of the multi-sport event.About the Games
The XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will be held from July 24 to August 8. Since its debut at the V Regional Games in Barranquilla in 1946, the Dominican Republic has participated 18 times and is preparing to host a multi-sport event of this type for the third time. The Dominican Republic hosted the XII edition of the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1974, from February 27 to March 13 in Santo Domingo, as well as the XV version, from June 24 to July 5, 1986 in Santiago.
